ABOUT US
THE METRO ATLANTA CLUB HISTORY
In March 2008 six members of The Greater Atlanta Club of The National Association of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. met to discuss formation of a new club in the metropolitan Atlanta
area. The main reasons for forming this club were (1) to utilize the knowledge gained as members to serve the community at a higher level; (2) to empower women to action and (3) to strengthen the black
family and community on a larger and more diverse level. These women had a larger vision and were committed to focusing on ways to making a greater impact in their communities in the area of Health,
Education, Economic Development and Business Entrepreneurship.
The women who planted this seed and founded the new club were Janice Andrews, Veronica Bivins, Brenda Gibson, Gwendolyn Landrum, Patricia Latimore and Pearlie Robinson. Four members from the Greater Atlanta Club joined the Founders early on as the club was being formed. They were: Udell Darville, Octavia Taylor, Carolyn Howard-Jenkins and Anita Taylor. In that same time frame, Associate Member Andrea Baird joined the group. These six founders and five members made up the club roster until Diane Powell-Larche’, Mary Lester and Michelle Thompson were reclaimed.
Members totaling fifteen made up the club roster when the charter was approved on July 31, 2008 at the 73rd National Convention in Detroit, Michigan. CLICK BELOW TO READ MORE........
